NO START? Get these proven 2020 FIXES for your Vehicle Problem before you spend your valuable time and money on expensive parts!

Almost 24% of the production vehicle cost is electrical and if you want to afford that expensive troubleshooting costs, you need to know some practical "easy" techniques that a few mechanics will reveal to you. For example, if your vehicle quit one day and it occurred because of a blown "ten cents" fuse, it will help you stop wasting your time and save your hard earned money.

Although the repair scene has greatly changed since ATS was started in 2000, the basics for troubleshooting are practically the same in 2014:

1. Find the common fixes that expert mechanics are using

2. Use simple PRACTICAL tools that regular folks can buy

3. Verify it with an affordable scanner and test it using a WIRING DIAGRAM (ATS will show you how to get it for FREE) before replacing any part!

Right now, there are numerous websites, videos and forums that you can read and watch for free or buy online to fix your vehicle problem. However, it is time consuming and not easy to find the EXACT SOLUTION when you needed it most.

Allow me to show you an example below:

Problem above:

2005 Honda Accord DX 2.4L with failed charging system. After replacing both battery ($125) and alternator ($229), the car won't start the next day.

Troubleshooting:

This is a typical mistake among some folks if no proper testing is done in the charging system. If you look at the alternator wirings above, there are 4 common fixes for this problem: battery (as shown in yellow star B in top left), alternator (shown in yellow star A in bottom right corner), the EDL control unit(shown in yellow star E in bottom left corner)and also the light indicator circuit (shown in yellow star L in top right corner).

If proper test was done first, the ELD unit might be the culprit and the cost is under $50. If the fuse is blown in fuse2 above on top right, then the cost is a mere 10 cents. Moreover,if you can trace and fix any shorted or open wires between these components like the other loads arrow in green color above, you can easily save yourself lots of headaches.

The A/C lower fan speeds are working again! We no longer have to use a
pencil to shift the console transmission lever out of park! The anti-lock brakes
aren't pulsating and as a family we fill like we are no longer living in fear that
the next intersection will reveal a not so understanding police officer!

Good News!

Richard, The module (ecm) came back from Module Experts last week. FINALLY! All is well and our Lexus runs like a NEW CAR... This is what they found:

On visual inspection on the bench test determined multiple capacitors were leaking electrolytic fluid on to the printed circuit board which can affect the PCB.

I knew you could do it Richard! and... I stuck with you during the diagnostic process. There was a lot of things I had to learn about troubleshooting using your TIPS. Thank you for staying with me and my sometimes very long emails.

It's fixed!

I have 0.08 volt at the ecm (engine computer) and 1.2 volts at the map sensor terminals and obviously the wire has a short!

I cheated and replaced the wire and now it works fine with no codes with the same voltage end to end! I will chase the harness in the next week or so and find the culprit to prevent further damage to others.

ATS works and SAVED me money...

Hi Rich,

I replaced the plugs and the MISS IS GONE! Old plugs look good. This engine was running rough like my corvette which does it when a plug fuel fouls. I almost changed my $300 camshaft actuator but your advice saved me over $200.

I could have done this myself but the advice you gave made it quicker for me.
I would recommend ATS to my fellow technicians because it's like having a spare brain in desperate times! The instructions are simple and practical that even ordinary folks can understand.
